AMA / AcoLOD / ASYNS: Acoustics

Project Topic

Asymptotical and multiscale methods in acoustics (AMA), Acoustic level-of-detail simulation (Acoustic LOD), Acoustic synthesis of directed signals (ASYNS)

Project Description

Acoustic LOD / AMA / ASYNS are concerned with the simulation and visualization of room acoustics. By adaptive refinement of resolution in raytracing and FEM-based simulation, it is possible to adjust precision and computation time individually to given requirements. This way, we are able to calculate pulse response filters used for auralization at interactive rates. Visualization and editing tools allow to explore the interplay between geometric shapes and reflection properties of these surfaces providing a lot of insight into the nature of acoustics.
